This hashtag helped about exposing the brutality brought by police to the harmless student. The use of this hashtag helped bring student together from different universities to fight for free and decolonized education. This hashtag made the country aware of what was happening in South African universities, where police brutalized and injured student.  During the campaign many messages, videos and pictures have been spread on social media which created attention for students and the whole citizens of South Africa. 

 Most student’s leaders and student’s organization used twitter, Facebook and other platforms to share action and incidents occurred on those days. This hashtag helped not only the students but also journalist and public relations practitioners to gather and cover real stories coming from real participants of the protest.

The strategic use of social media should be a way to feed journalist with rich and reliable content. Writing on social media help create a way for readers to get solution towards their problems. E.g on the protest many students involved themselves in the scene of crime where able to be spot and arrested.  #DATA MUST FALL is was a south African initiative calling all the south African outside and in of south Africa to come together and fight against the price of data in the whole of south Africa compared to other national countries in the world even in Africa as a continent, the person who started the campaign believe that South Africans pays a lot to their data.

The hashtag played a very vital role in bringing people together to fight for what the believe is right and good for them, social media role in the world of today has brought improvement in the way people interact to each other on daily basis. The benefits of this hashtag rather social media is that data must fall is that is give a faster wide spread of information to the people of the world, e.g. it allows people to share information. Social media help create awareness, it help organization and individual to participate or interact with its people by giving updates about companies products.
